At Springfield Electric Supply Company we strongly believe in giving back to our community. It’s something that we admire about so many fellow locally owned independent businesses in Springfield.
It’s important to recognize that ‘giving back to your community’ doesn’t necessarily mean writing a check for a local cause, nonprofit, or organization. It can mean so much more. We believe it’s vital to involve our associates in the giving process. As well as being headquartered in Springfield for 87 years, our business has 19 locations across Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, and Indiana. For example, each year the entire company participates in United Way’s Day of Action, which not only builds camaraderie amongst staff, but can greatly benefit those living right on our doorstep as participants can allocate their funds to local nonprofits. It’s a focused approach to giving and something many of our employees look forward to participating in.
Giving back to your community also means giving back to fellow businesses, professionals, and entrepreneurs. We want to share our years of experience and so have created a series of lunch and learns with industry auxiliaries, most recently Realtors in Springfield. And, at the recommendation of one of our attendees, we will be broadcasting some of the knowledge we shared at the event with our Facebook followers through Facebook live so that even more people can benefit.
We are looking forward to hosting this year’s Local First Springfield Annual Awards on September 12, which will recognize and celebrate those members that go above and beyond, including the social change maker award for members where a positive social impact is at the core of their purpose and are creating opportunities to address social issues and better our world. We hope to see you there and to discuss with you ways in which we can continue to give back to our community.
